Married on Mohonk Mountain
Hudson Valley, NY
The Mohonk Mountain House wedding was the third destination wedding for me this year. It is a grand resort like no other, especially for a photographer capturing incredible beauty at every turn! It is hard to describe the location but I will give it a try – first of all, it is a national historic landmark that is 150 years old. Five U.S. presidents have stayed at the hotel and it is still family owned. The mountain house was built around a glacier lake, it is so peaceful and tranquil that you never want to leave. It’s a 5 star Victorian castle that us surrounded by 40,000 acres of forest, absolutely stunning!
A legacy wedding
I has the pleasure of photographing another wedding for this family a couple of years ago. When I was asked to fly to NY for the other daughters wedding, I was thrilled and honored! It was a small wedding but made up for it in grandeur. The wedding was only 25 people and because of the size my assistant and I were truly made to feel like we were part of the family, we had an amazing time! Lauren and Kenny chose to get married in the garden of the resort with the Hudson valley as a majestic backdrop. It was a clear and perfect fall day in upstate N. Y. The ceremony was performed by a local officiant and was just perfect for the couple. After the wedding, all of the guests enjoyed the cocktail hour on the massive porch over looking the glacial lake. We returned to a private room in the resort for the wedding dinner followed by dancing which included a very special father daughter dance, Edelweiss which was partially sung by her father, so emotional. I remember from the first wedding the whole family are amazing dancers so it was so fun watching them again. I waited for the perfect moment to take the couple away for a few moments to capture a stunning sunset overlooking the Hudson Valley, it was worth it just for the applause the newlyweds received as the sunset into the valley. Because of the all the options that the property has to offer we decided to take additional photos the following day and it was worth it!
Floating in the sky!
Because there were so many options that the property has to offer we decided to take additional photos the following day. The resort has so many picturesque spots it was hard to choose which ones would make the perfect spots. Of course glacial lake had to be one with its serene beauty and the mountain house in the backdrop. Sky top was another, it is the top of the mountain and is the crown of Mohonk, we were chauffeured up and as we approached in the early morning hours the valley was covered with clouds, it was so magical, truly breathtaking!
